PECO Investigating Gas Odor in Phila Region

Posted: Updated:

A spokesperson for PECO confirms to Fox 29 News that crews are trying to find the source of a gas odor that has resulted in hundreds of calls to PECO on Saturday.

Over 900 calls have been placed to PECO as of late Saturday evening; that is an elevated number of calls than a normal day, the spokesperson says. Crews that are trained in gas odor response are spread throughout the area to try to pinpoint the source of the odor. Reports of gas odors have been made by customers in Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, and Bucks counties.

PECO has set up an emergency response center in their Plymouth Meeting offices. So far, no leaks have been detected. Crews are responding to each call, and will continue to work throughout the night.

If you smell gas, call 1-800-841-4141 to report it to PECO, or visit their website, peco.com.
