NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Long Island native Madison Beer seems to be walking the same path to super-stardom as her mentor - and the person who discovered her- Justin Bieber.

The pop star was on YouTube one day and found a video of Beer singing 'At Last' by Etta James.

"I posted a YouTube video when I was 12 about to turn 13 and then Scooter and Justin had gotten in contact with my mom. She was like you're Justin  Bieber, right, right," said Beer about the moment that changed her life.

Now 15 and living in Los Angeles, Beer is set to perform at Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the U.S. Open just as Bieber had done. She previewed her performance as her Canadian mentor also once did during Good Day New York.

"It's my first debut performance. I'm so excited," said Beer who will be joined by the likes of up-and-comers Shawn Mendes and McClain.

"I just love what I'm doing. I love writing music. I like to be creative," said Beer.

Bieber has been a big inspiration to the rising star and a guide through the often challenging aspects of the entertainment business including how to handle critics who take to social media.

"He's always telling me to keep my head up and be happy and strong. Haters will hate. I always talk to my mom about it... I see one negative (on social media) and it's bad. It's become out of hand with kids. I have thick skin. Haters are my motivators," said Beer.

You can following Beer on social media including Twitter- where she has nearly a million followers; or on Instagram where she's closed to two million.

Comedian Richard Lewis and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' creator Larry David go way back.  "We went to camp (as kids), hated him, never saw him again. I started at the Improv, no longer here, and he was a fan. I was drinking back then and I said 'I hate you.' We had a fistfight at a bar and we bonded. We love each other and yet we annoy each other," said Lewis. The pair was quite the comedic duo on the hit HBO show.
