Fire performer's car and performance gear stolen

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A local fire performer needs help tonight after her car was stolen over the weekend.

Inside was all of her equipment she uses for her fire breathing and fire dances.

She performs at various nightclubs around the valley, booking about three shows a week.

She was just making the leap; performing full-time when her car was stolen with all of her gear inside.

Warning, do not try what she does at home.

Jennifer Garza, aka "Burden," is a popular fire performer in Phoenix.

"I've been a fire performer for about 13 years; I started off by taking a belly dance class at a local coop," said Garza.

FOX 10 producer Michael Edgecomb took video of one of her performances.

She's also featured in a video by Chris Heck.

But Saturday, Garza's car was stolen from her home near 15th Ave & Osborne. Inside, was all of her fire gear, including safety equipment.

"Breathing torches, eating torches, fire fingers are the torches that are fixed to each finger," she described.

To make matters worse, Garza had given her work notice that she'd be leaving her desk job this week, making the leap to performing full time.

"Yeah, I was pretty nervous about it, but it's my dream, it's what I love to do, it's the only thing I can really see myself doing and being happy doing for the rest of my life," she said.

For now, friends and family have offered to give Garza rides. Other fire performers are letting her borrow props.

Garza filed a police report and has been keeping an eye out online for anyone who may be trying to sell her belongings.

"If there's any way I could get the car back, and all of the stuff in it, it would be great," said Garza.

Her car is really recognizable, a white Honda Civic with a black hood. If you have any information call Phoenix Police.

Garza estimates her fire gear was worth $1,500 to $2,000. At the suggestion of friends, she started a site to help replace the gear and her car.
