100 ft. tall tree crushes parked car in Tempe

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The strong winds passed through Tempe causing damage.

At Encanto & College a street light snapped right at the base.

And for the second time this monsoon season wind knocked down trees at the Villa Tree Apartments in Tempe.

This time the wind knocked down a 100 foot tree sending it crashing through a parked Infiniti.

The tree crushed the roof of the car and flattened the tires.

The owner of that car's mom had just pulled into the complex when the tree fell breaking her windshield.

"As I got ready to shut the door, I saw it was really gusting really hard outside, so I opened the door back up and saw the tree waver, just a little bit. Then it started to tip and kept going, crushed the whole car down. My mother was in the car on the other side and it just broke the window. We got her out of the car safely," said Adam.

He said they would have been inside the car a few minutes later. He's contacted his insurance company who is going to come out Wednesday morning.
