EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) -- Tom Hruby is certainly tough enough to play college football. He's 32-year-old active Navy SEAL trying to earn a spot on Northwestern University's football team.
Hruby is a junior at Northwestern and a father of three. He's trying to walk on as a defensive end.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports he still works as a SEAL instructor at Great Lakes Naval Station. He saved up his leave so he could participate in the Wildcats' three-week training camp this month.
As a SEAL, he's served in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
His wife Jen says it's important to pursue "dreams that you think are unattainable."
