Authorities are investigating an officer involved shooting that left one woman dead in Henry County.
According to the Henry County Police Department, a woman called 911 and sounded hysterical Thursday afternoon.
Police arrived on the scene of a home near Highway 78 and Dodgens Road. Police say when they arrived they heard screaming and broke in.
Police tell FOX 5 the woman was armed with a handgun and pointed the gun at police officers.
Henry County Police demanded the woman drop her weapon and shots were fired at the woman when she didn’t comply.
Police confirm the woman died on the scene and the officer who opened fire will be placed on administrative leave until The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is done with the investigation.
According to police, the woman’s husband also called police.
