TWA flight 800 anniversary

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

It was 18 years ago that TWA flight 800 crashed off Long Island, killing all 230 people on board.

To this day, there is controversy over what brought the plane down.

An official investigation blamed it on an explosion in a fuel tank.

But conspiracy theorists remain convinced TWA flight 800 was shot out of the sky by a missile, very much like what happened in the Ukraine on Thursday.

And this week also marks the 15th anniversary of the plane crash that took the lives of John F. Kennedy Jr, his wife Carolyn and her sister Lauren Bessette.

All three died when the small plane Kennedy was piloting crashed near Martha’s Vineyard.

He was just 38.
