Leanna Harris visits husband in jail

Posted: Updated:

With a cloud of tragedy, suspicion, and speculation following her family, Leanna Harris went to the Cobb County Jail to visit her husband Tuesday.

Ross Harris is charged with murdering the couple's only child, by leaving 22-month-old Cooper in a hot car for 7 hours, while he went to work. Police say Harris claims he forgot about Cooper, but investigators say the evidence tells a much different story.

Two sources at the jail confirm to FOX 5's Chris Shaw, Leanna spent about 45 minutes at the facility Tuesday morning. Per jail protocol, the couple would have communicated through teleconference. Sources tell FOX 5, they noticed nothing out of the ordinary about the Harris' interaction.

FOX 5 went to the family’s condo in Marietta later in the day Tuesday, but no one appeared to be home. Neighbors tell FOX 5 they’ve seen Leanna and another woman periodically come and go over the past two weeks, never saying much to anyone at the complex.

Leanna Harris has rarely been seen publicly since her son's death. At Cooper's funeral last month, she told family and friends she stands behind Ross.

And she had no comment last Thursday, after Ross Harris' 3 hour probable cause hearing. Prosecutors dropped several bombshells about Ross during that hearing, but also said that Leanna's behavior was strange the day Cooper died. A Cobb County Police Detective

testified that Leanna seemed to show little emotion. Search warrants indicate that Leanna, like Ross, had done online searches into hot car deaths.

Police have not charged Leanna and they say she is not a suspect. They also say their investigation into Cooper's death has a long way to go.
