SLIDESHOW: Fallen Officers Memorial Vandalized

Posted: Updated:
The West Memphis Police Department says they arrested two females Saturday afternoon for vandalizing the newly erected Fallen Officers Memorial in Worthington Park.

Police says Lacey Friddle, 19, and Jessica LaPradd, 25, both of Marion, were observed along with three young children, scratching words and symbols on the sides of the memorial.

The Fallen Officers Memorial was built and paid for primarily through fund raising events and private donations at a cost of between $300,000 and $400,000.  The memorial was built to honor all Crittenden County Police Officers and Firemen who gave their lives in the line of duty.  The earliest of these dates back to 1895.

Police say early figures estimate the damage to the memorial to be between $5,000 and $50,000.
