DETROIT (WJBK) -- Officials have identified a man whose dismembered body was found partially encased in cement inside a garage behind a Detroit home.

Reports indicate that the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office identified the body as 23-year-old Sheldon Prawl, who had been reported missing from Jacksonville, North Carolina last November.

Beverley Daley, of New York, says her son had been living in North Carolina for about a year before his disappearance October 30, 2013. Daley says her son wouldn't have had any reason to come to Michigan.

The cut-up corpse was found May 30 by a person who noticed an overwhelming foul odor and called police.

Authorities say the identification was made after police last week released an image of a distinctive tattoo on the victim's forearm that read, "R.I.P. Deisha" with dates written as "8/23/81-4/7/09" underneath.
