DETROIT (AP) -- The Heidelberg Project says it has completed a security and surveillance system following a series of fires at the outdoor art installation.

Organizers issued a statement Tuesday saying the solar-powered system includes remotely-monitored cameras and streetlights. The Heidelberg Project raised more than $54,000 for security in about a month and got donations from foundations and others.

The Heidelberg Project says Holland, Michigan-based Solar Street Lights USA and Livonia-based Digital Planet/Detroit Networks are among those involved.

A March 7 fire destroyed a house covered in stuffed animals and dolls that was part of the installation. It was the latest casualty in a string of suspicious fires that started last year. Tyree Guyton founded the Heidelberg Project on Detroit's east side in 1986 as a response to urban decay.
