Actress Shailene Woodley shocked David Letterman when she admitted she eats clay. That's right: clay. She told him on "Late Night with David Letterman" that it keeps her thin and healthy. Her fellow "Divergent" star Zoe Kravitz has admitted to drinking clay to help her lose weight for a movie role.

But Lisa Cohn, a nutritionist, says that while clay can be an appetite suppressant but we don't know if it's safe to eat. Says she would not recommend it.

Celebrities seem to always be touting the benefits of fad diets. Beyoncé admitted to doing a juice cleanse to drop weight. And "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" even devoted and episode to fad diets complete with a demonstration on how to make a detoxing cleanse.

But while these things may work in the short term, nutritionists warn in the long run there is no getting around a healthy diet and exercise for optimum health.
