WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (FOX13) - While the Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis will remain closed for at least 2 more weeks after suffering damage from a fire, Arkansans are heading to the polls to vote on a one-cent sales tax to save the hospital from closing for good.

The hospital closed earlier this month after a fire broke out in an empty patient room. In addition to regrouping after the incident, hospital leaders are dealing with 30 million dollars worth of debt. They've been trying hard for a while now to save this place, but we're told  beds are usually not even half full.

If voters approve the tax hike, the money would be used to get more doctors and specialists here, renovate the emergency room, and help cover the expenses of general upkeep.
