ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Fox 9 overnight photojournalist Greg Kellogg spotted something strange floating down the Mississippi River in St. Paul early Tuesday morning – a giant clamshell.

The clamshell is from a flooded playground on Harriet Island. Artist Geri Connelly created the giant sculpture, which is actually a mussel shell. She and her partner are now offering a $500 reward for the shell’s safe return. If you know the location of the shell, contact Geri at 651-641-7591 or by email at

Here is where the clam is supposed to be:

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has declared a state of emergency as the city prepares for its worst flooding since 2001. The Mississippi River is expected to rise another 2 feet before cresting on Thursday, nearly 7 feet above flood stage.
