DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) - They've relocated from all across the country to work and create right here in Memphis. They are entrepreneurs working to build their businesses from the ground up, and they've got 90 days to do it.

The company that is helping them is called StartCo, a start-up incubator that works with entrepreneurs to take their ideas from business plan to prototype.

Many of these innovators moved here from cities like San Francisco and New York City to work with StartCo in Downtown Memphis.

"They give us this beautiful office space, mentors, funding, and overall support and encouragement," said Maggie Owsley, founder of a company called Playtag.

StartCo helps them build their ideas into products that can be manufactured and sold. They've got 90 days to complete their ideas; so many teams have been working day and night.

"When this clock reaches zero it will be Aug. 21 and 18 teams will go up on stage to launch their companies and present their ideas that they have been working on thru this summer of acceleration," said Mara Lewis, with StartCo.

People like Owsley who developed a wearable device for your dog and a companion mobile app for humans to track their whereabouts.

"Our biggest concern is dog safety and making sure your dog is safe and happy and kind of relieving the anxiety for the dog owner," Owsley said.

Then there are some mobile apps like one called Mira. Its founders are still working on it, and they say it will help remove the uncertainty of deciding what to wear.

"Users upload a picture or options and they get feedback or expert opinion in two minutes or less," said co-founder Morgan Steffy. Instant feedback they hope will instantly appeal to potential investors in the near future.
