Huntsville, Ala. (FOX 54) - - Authorities confirm a small plane crashed at the Huntsville International Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the airport around 2:30 p.m. The source says it was a small aircraft, not a commercial plane.

An airport spokeswoman said the aircraft did radio in an emergency prior to the crash, and fire was involved. No other details were given.

A news conference has been scheduled for 4 p.m.

Another source said the airplane is a West Wind II, a plane manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries between 1965 and 1987.

North and southbound lanes of County Line Road near the airport are currently closed.
