FDA joins Flickr

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

The FDA recalls products either because they're considered defective or potentially harmful, but it's hard to keep up with them all. So, the feds are now turning to social media to connect you to the latest information

If you want to keep track of FDA recalls, check out Flickr. For those of you not up to speed on that site, it's a Web service that hosts pictures and videos. When you sign on you have to "follow" the FDA at "U.S. Food and Drug Administration" - just how it's written there.

You'll see pictures of products and next to it, the FDA lists the recall date, a description of the product, as well as a link to the full recall information. Now, this is not meant to replace the official recall on the FDA Web site, but instead to enhance it.

Just a quick glance shows everything from snacks to weight loss products. It's not a complete list of recalls, but it catalogues a good chunk of them.

Now here's the rub: You have to have a Yahoo email account to sign on. If you are not already signed up with Yahoo, you'll have to open an account.

Taking on a big bank, even over something like a minor bank error, can be maddening. You feel like no one is listening. It's like being trapped in a maze you can't get out of, but somebody is noticing how frustrating that can be.
