Two Mid-South middle high school students are being honored for their essays and poems to reduce youth violence.

Chase Woodward, seventh grader from Cordova Middle School, and Schilling Farms eighth grader Desiree Winns participated in a national contest called "Do The Write Thing."

School children were asked how has violence impacted them, what are the causes, and what are the solutions.

Chase and Desiree joined FOX13 News anchor Greg Coy to talk about their winning essays and their upcoming trips to Washington, D.C.
