New president named for Georgia Highlands College

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - A new president has been chosen to lead Georgia Highlands College.

University System of Georgia Board of Regents Chair Philip Wilheit, Sr. says Donald Green will assume the post on September 8. Green was the vice president for extended and international operations at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

He also has served as vice chancellor and vice president at Ferris State. He also has been an administrator and teacher at Grand Rapids Community College and Davenport University, both in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Wilheit says Green is an ideal choice because of his experience working with multiple campuses at Ferris State. Georgia Highlands serves about 5,700 students in northwest Georgia.

Former Georgia Highlands College President Randy Pierce retired in December 2011. Two interim presidents have served since that time.
