Hero losing home receives helping hand

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -

FOX 5 viewers touched by the story of a young hero whose family lost their home this week have responded in a big way.

A Douglas County boy asked for help after his family lost their home.

Carson Taylor was hailed a hero in March after saving a neighbor’s life and several months later he hopes someone will help his family find a new home.

Carson’s mother, Arnetta, is in a race against time because her family had to be out of their home by Wednesday.

Neighbors contacted FOX 5 about the family’s situation looking for ways to help.

The family’s church is putting them up at an extended stay motel, as a temporary home while Carson and Arnetta get back on their feet.

Arnetta Taylor was hospitalized for four months after her appendix burst. The family lost their car, and now their home. It was a difficult situation and was made worse by local shelter policies.

Taylor says the facilities she contacted won’t take her and her son because Carson is 15, too old for them to take.

Carson was recognized by the media and Douglas County school district for convincing a school bus driver to turn around, so he could render aid to Jennifer Tincher when he saw her collapsed at her home in March.

“I’m very very grateful I owe that young man my life,” said Tincher.

Neighbors are currently doing what they can to help the family.
