CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Soccer fans flooded Soldier Field as Mexico faced Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tuesday night.

The sun shined brightly down on fans outside of Soldier Field ready for some World Cup class soccer. Thousands of excited Mexico fans were at the stadium early. On the Bosnia and Herzegovina side, a much smaller showing, but there was still plenty of country pride.

Bosnia is on the verge of its first appearance in the World Cup, but Tuesday was just a friendly game.

“It's the third game against Mexico and we've lost the last few times and we just want to win," said Bosnia fan, Haris Lillac.

Although the tailgates were separate, there was no animosity among fans of both teams.

“It's crazy just how many Mexicans are here just showing their support,” added Lillac. “And they're all really nice to, so it's not like a rivalry hating on each other, it's really nice."

"It's great, you know...the Bosnian people and the Mexican people we get along really good," said Mexico fan, Felipe Diosdado.

Chicago has the fourth largest Mexican population in the country and they came out ready to celebrate.

Most of all, everyone came out to watch their teams as they get ready for the world stage, the World Cup beginning next week.

"This is getting ready for the World Cup, that's what it is. That's what makes it different from the other games. It's a friendly game, but they're going to the World Cup," added Diosdado.

Soccer is growing in popularity here in the U.S. There will be viewing parties held in Grant Park as the U-S men's team competes in the World Cup. The first game is June 16th.

Athlete Izet Hajrovic scored from close range in the 41st minute, and Bosnia-Herzegovina defeated Mexico 1-0 in the pre-World Cup friendly match Tuesday night.
