What's happening around metro Detroit Memorial Day weekend

(WJBK) - Staying local this holiday weekend? Here's some fun things for you to check out.

Vietnam Veteran Traveling Memorial

The Michigan Vietnam Veteran Traveling Memorial is on display at the Royal Oak Farmers Market.

The names of more than 2,600 men and women who were killed are on that wall.

It will be on display until Saturday evening.


Civil War commemorations at Greenfield Village


Greenfield Village is being transformed this weekend into 1860s America for a series of Civil War commemorative events.

All activities are free with Village admission. Details here.


Newborn quintuplet warthogs at Detroit Zoo

A family of new warthog piglets have been born at The Detroit Zoo and are available for visitor's to check out.

Five total were born. Two of them are still a little too small to venture out and are being cared for by staff.

The zoo is open 9-5 all weekend.


Orchard lake St. Mary's Polish Country Fair

The 43rd Annual St. Mary's Polish Country Fair is in Orchard Lake through Monday night.

The event includes live music, food and games. Adults can also enjoy a beer garden and Las Vegas-style gambling.

Movement Electronic Music Festival

Movement Electronic Music Festival invades Hart Plaza this weekend.

Organizers describe this year's festival as one that will have "six technologically-rich outdoor stages and over 100 artists."

'Wine Warriors' wine tasting event

Four successful winemakers from Michigan have teamed together to create a new, signature label of wines. They'll be up for tasting Saturday.

For a $10 admission price you get an official Wine Warriors wine glass and four free wine tastings of each winemakers' exclusive "Wine Warriors" products.

The event is at E.G. Nicks, 500 Forest Ave. in Plymouth on Saturday, May 24 starting at 6 p.m.


Northville Flower Sale

Get your summer garden started at the 27th Annual Flower Sale in Northville.

Growers will be on hand to answer questions and you can find a big variety of local grown flowers, including perennials, herbs, annuals, roses and much more.

The two-day event runs Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Free parking is available.
