1 dead, 2 injured in Pontiac apartment shooting

PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) - One person is dead and two others are wounded after a string of shootings at an apartment complex in Pontiac, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The shootings happened in the 700 block of Kettering at the Newman Court Apartments. The first shots rang out around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

"There were fights and shots fired; fights and shots fired," says Oakland Co. Sheriff Mike Bouchard.

Neighbors say the drama began Sunday when some women were fighting. Their fight continued and is said to have involved two more people on Monday. Neighbors tell FOX 2's Erika Erickson they were fighting over a man.

Monday evening Latasha Alexander says she heard gunshots.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested four woman. Two of the woman were later released. Neighbors say those two woman came back to the apartment complex an hour later and began arguing with a man.

Police were called to the scene again and arrested two women. The man said to be involved in the argument ran off.

Then, around 11 p.m. neighbors say they heard fighting and gunshots once again.

A 19-year-old male was killed. A 17-year-old male and 24-year-old male were also struck by the gunfire and are in stable condition.

Police say the shootings may be connected and are investigating.

Five people are in custody with formal charges to come.
