PHOENIX (KSAZ) - MCSO deputies found a former colleague dead inside his home near 33rd Avenue & Thunderbird.

SkyFox video showed deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office surrounding the home Thursday afternoon.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said that 40 year-old Ramon Armendariz was found dead of an apparent suicide.

Armendariz, held police in a standoff last Sunday for nine hours before being taken into custody. He was evaluated by a doctor and a judge placed him on house arrest.

On Wednesday he was scheduled to be fitted with an ankle monitoring bracelet but when he failed to show up an arrest warrant was obtained.

Authorities say that Armendariz had originally called Phoenix Police saying a burglar was in his home, but nothing was found.

He's facing four drug charges on that incident; many friends and neighbors are worried about Armenderiz's mental state. He told authorities he was seeing people and things that simply were not there.

Following his release on Monday Armendariz returned to his home near 35th Avenue & Thunderbird and called 9-1-1 for the third time.

"You know the incident I went through the other day was very sad, and very traumatic for me, and all I was doing was asking for help, and though they did, it was very terrifying," said Armendariz.

Armendariz said that his four dogs were behaving as if someone was outside his home, officers checked and found nothing.

"My nerves were frazzled, and I did not intend on coming home to an empty house," he said.

The Sheriff's office addressed the issue by saying Armendariz had resigned as a deputy last Friday.
