North Philadelphia-"He was bleeding a lot," said Robinson Peralta who was working at his store New Life Food Market in North Philadelphia Wednesday night. He said a man cam stumbling in bleeding and pleading for help.
"He said you can call 9-1-1. I said what happened? He told me I got shot and I called 9-1-1. I said go out, go out. He didn't want to. He sat back there," said Peralta.
Police say the 26-year old victim tells them he was carjacked on the 2000 block of Glenwood Avenue then shot in the back before the suspect took off. The victim then managed to run about a block to a store at 21st and York leaving a trail of blood along the way. Police say surveillance cameras outside and inside the store captured the victim trying to get away.
"It is captured on video tape him running south on 21st Street from Glenwood Avenue and running south on the street into the corner store and there's blood in the corner store," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Peralta is shocked to hear what all went down.
"Nothing never happened. I've been here two years and nothing like this happened until now."
Police found the stolen Dodge Durango ditched about two blocks away from the scene.
The victim was not able to give them a description of the suspect. Police say he was taken to Temple Hospital where he is in critical condition but expected to survive.
