Ford hosts teen driver safety event

Posted: Updated:
DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) - Ford Motor Co. hosted a driver safety event, putting teen drivers to the test.

The event was a different type of driver's training, though, as instructors distracted teens on purpose to show how driving abilities suffer. Nearly 200 students from 13 area high schools got behind the wheel to test their skills on a closed course.

The instruction included advanced skills and safe driving techniques for hazard recognition, vehicle handling, avoiding distractions and the dangers of impairment.

Instructors remind parents to drive as you'd want your kids to drive, and to set a good example by not using your cell phones while driving.

Watch the video to see parts of the driving tests in a report from FOX 2's Jason Carr.
