Delaware County D.A.'s Office Investigating Chester Police Department

Posted: Updated:

On Tuesday the Delaware County District Attorney's Office launched an investigation into the Chester Police Department. The D.A.'s Office tells Fox 29 the investigation involves evidence missing from the evidence room in the building on East 7th Street. Mayor John Linder says around 1:45, detectives with the Delaware County Criminal Investigations Division served a warrant on the department.

"It was a sealed warrant which means that it had limited information except to have access to look for some specific things and our police cooperated with them," said Mayor Linder who also says he cannot confirm exactly what detectives were looking for. But he says the complaint that led to the investigation came from one of their own.

"They did have a formal complaint, I do know that, from within the department so the District Attorney has to investigate it on that basis and we're just waiting to see what happens," said Mayor Linder.

No word on whether detectives recovered anything during the search.
