WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - Authorities are looking for suspects who stole thousands of dollars worth of luxury watches from a high-end jewelry store in West Bloomfield.

Lt. Curt Lawson says a 911 call was placed by a employee at Tapper's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday saying three black males entered the store on Orchard Lake Road and demanded merchandise.

Lawson says two suspects were armed with handguns and the third suspect had a hammer. They ordered employees to the ground and physically forced some to the ground.

One suspect pointed a gun at an employee, demanding a merchandise case be opened. "The employees did exactly what they're supposed to do," said Lawson.

The suspects took off with Rolex watches, according to witnesses.

Police say they got into a newer-model Chrysler Town and Country, which was parked and waiting behind the building.

FOX 2's Roop Raj reports just a few hours prior to the incident, another jewelry store on the west side of the state was victim to an armed robbery. FOX 17 reports armed men walked into Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry in Plainfield Twp. just before 1 p.m. and stole Rolex watches.

Police would not say they robberies were related, but tell Raj they're looking into the similarities.
