John Olumba: I'm not ditching the area, I'm kind of expanding my territory

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - You may remember John Olumba, the Detroit lawmaker with the worst attendance record in the state legislature.

Rep. Olumba's attendance improved after FOX 2 problem solver M.L. Elrick caught him playing hooky.

But now, Elrick is exposing a new problem -- Olumba appears to be living in a different district than the one he was elected in and represents.

Elrick caught Olumba spending a lot of time at a house in the fourth district, when he should be spending that time in the third district.

Olumba tells Elrick he does not live in the fourth-district house, but his wife stays there and he goes "back-and-forth." Olumba even says his neighbors in the third district would vouch for him.

Elrick went and spoke with two of those neighbors. Neither recognized Olumba.

WEB EXCLUSIVE: When Elrick first caught up with Olumba for the attendance problem, Olumba's vehicle was not registered in the state of Michigan. It had an Alabama license plate.

Olumba told Elrick it was because the vehicle was a family member's and the registration was still getting switched around, and that it would be taken care of very soon.

Now, 10 months later - has anything changed?
