Animal Activists Picket Outside Liam Neeson's Home

Posted: Updated:

Demonstrators backed by the animal rights group "PETA" gathered outside of actor Liam Neeson's home in protest of Neeson's support for the New York City carriage horses.

Protesters were holding signs and using slogans, such as "stop supporting cruelty."

This comes after the "Taken" actor displayed his public support of the city's carriage horses.

Neeson has recently toured the horse's stables with lawmakers hoping to prove the horses are not being mistreating, and are kept in a healthy and happy environment.

Despite his efforts, protesters continue to claim Neeson is spreading "false information."

"It's time for Liam Neeson to stop spreading misinformation and stop supporting this industry," PETA protester Ashley Byrne said.

"Mayor De Blasio has been firmly committed ending the inhuman horse carriage industry. And we are very confident that we are going to get these animals off the city streets," PETA protester Ali Feldman said.

Horse carriage drivers are upset because this is their livelihood the protesters are against.

“The horses as everyone can see they're in such great shape. It's our livelihood and it's so concerning when you have someone that wants to take away your livelihood and the idea of forcing us in the direction of these electric cars is a non-starter," horse carriage driver Colm McKeever said.

The New York City mayor and protesters, believe the historical horse and carriages should be replaced with electric vintage-style cars.
