Blackhawks fans still hopeful heading into Game 3

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The Chicago Blackhawks are in a playoff battle Monday night at the United Center. They lost the first two games of the Division Semifinals to the rival St. Louis Blues and need a win to get back on track.

The game will be the team's toughest test of the season as they are heading in without their star defenseman Brent Seabrook. Seabrook has been suspended for three games for his hit on Blues center David Backes during Game 2.

FOX 32's Joanie Lum reports fans around the United Center are down, but not out.

The West Side near the United Center is ready for playoff action - a rebirth after a long, cold winter. Blackhawks fans hope home ice advantage will do it for the Hawks, and fans will be swarming the bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.

The Palace Grill on Madison celebrated 75 years last year when the Hawks brought home the Stanley Cup. It went from the unofficial to the official restaurant for the Chicago Blackhawks. Their countdown to the championship tally board is on the window, displaying that a win is needed Monday night.

Fans say those first two overtime losses to the St. Louis Blues were difficult to digest.

"The two losses were really sad. They have to start winning because we want the cup back home," one Blackhawks fan told FOX 32 Monday morning.

Fans said they don't mind the series taking seven games if it means the Blackhawks win.

The atmosphere will come alive in and around the United Center at game time. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. Tickets on the secondary market are going for between $76 and more than $1,200.
