WEST CHESTER, Pa. -

Students and parents are on edge after a sexual assault at West Chester University was reported to the University Department of Public Safety on Saturday, April 19th at 2:28 a.m.

According to campus police, the assault occurred in a residence on campus. Police say the victim did not know the attacker.

"It's kind of scary because obviously it shouldn't be happening," student Kate Luff said. "There's security guards so I mean they had to have gotten signed in or lived in the building."

Other students are just as shocked.

"That was actually definitely surprising to us because there were so little amount of people here. we're just some of the only people on our floor actually," concerned student Emily Brown said.

This attack comes after two others in less than a month.

On April 4th, campus authorities say there was an assault in an on-campus residence where the victim knew the attacker, a student at the university.

Authorities also say that on March 30th, another one on campus, the exact location unknown. The victim there also knew their attacker, police say.

"I feel like that's a lot of incidents that are going on in a really short amount of time," Kate Luff said.

Students get alerts every time a sexual assault is reported, buy still they say they want more information.

"I would actually rather have them like more specific for the text messages. Rather than a sexual assault, what happened, so I would know to be more safe around here," student Grace Desarno said.

Campus police have a vague description of the suspect in this latest incident, but they say it is under investigation, along with the other cases.

In the meantime, university officials, remind students to never walk alone, limit alcohol use and let other people know their plans if they are going around campus.

Anyone with information relating to this crime, please contact the West Chester University Department of Public Safety at 610-436-3311.
