Mother finds prescription drug mixed in with Easter egg's candy

Posted: Updated:
ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - A mother says her preschooler found something dangerous inside her Easter egg.

Amber Pruchniewski says it happened at her daughter's school, Huron Park Elementary in Roseville. Each parent was told to bring a dozen plastic eggs with candy inside for the children to find and collect.

She says when the egg hunt was over, at home they were going through all the candy inside her daughter's eggs when she noticed a white pill was mixed in with some jellybeans.

She later learned after online research the pill was Xanax.

Pruchniewski says the school didn't take the incident seriously at first, and told her it was probably an accident. She, however, says this was "careless" and wants to know who did this. She says her daughter, who is epileptic, could have easily mistaken the pill for candy. She also says the egg was taped shut when her daughter found it.

The Roseville superintendent says school officials contacted a resource officer immediately when the issue was brought to their attention. The evidence was collected and given to the Roseville Police Department.

Detectives are now investigating.
