SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

A 24-year-old man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his mother and one of her neighbors at a home near Hayden and McDowell late Thursday night.

Police say Michael Debusman asked his mother for money and when she refused, he hit her in the head with a glass blender carafe.

When a man who lives in a separate home nearby came in the front door, Debusman allegedly hit him in the head multiple times with a collapsible metal baton.

According to police, Debusman stole the man's wallet and then left in his mother's vehicle.

Both his mother and the neighbor were taken to a hospital and released.

Debusman reportedly made threats against his grandmother, whom he lives with part time, but he wasn't at her home when they checked on her.

An officer stayed with the grandmother while Debusman was missing.

A Phoenix police patrol officer saw the vehicle around 4 a.m. and attempted to stop it.

Police say the vehicle fled into the grandmother's complex and a short time later, Debusman knocked on his grandmother's door.

After he was confronted by the officer protecting his grandmother, Debusman allegedly fled into a friend's apartment nearby.

Police say Debusman jumped from his friend's apartment to a vacant one, but when he tried to jump from that balcony to the ground, he injured his leg.

At that point, Debusman was taken into custody.

Police say Debusman has an extensive arrest record with Scottsdale police, including drug related charges, thefts and disorderly conduct.

He's facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery.
