Sky Harbor bus strike may cause delays

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Sky Harbor shuttle bus employees on strike may cause traveling delays for passengers who usually use buses to get around the airport.

Bus employees say they have been in negotiations with the company that owns the buses for more than a year; operators haven't had a contract since June 2013.

"We decided to walk on intimidation tactics and threat tactics that the company is pulling on us to try to get us to vote yes on a contract that we feel that we're not getting what we deserve," said Debbie Jones, with Local 1433.

These drivers usually take travelers to and from terminals and parking lots and to rental car facilities.

Sky Harbor officials say waits for shuttle buses may be longer for travelers flying out of Terminal 2 or 3. Terminal 4 won't be affected.

The airport suggests those renting or returning a car to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for travel between the airport and the rental car center.

If you need to transfer between terminals, Sky Harbor officials say to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for additional stops.

As always, you're advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to leave.
