West Windsor Police Help Reunite Family With Long Lost Dog

Posted: Updated:
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -

Myra Cruz couldn't believe her ears yesterday when she received a message that her long lost dog Wesley has been found.

Wesley, a yellow Labrador retriever, was missing from Hillsborough for 17 months. He was finally reunited with his family on April 1st 2014.

West Windsor Police Officer Lee Brodowski was dispatched to the Manor Ridge area around 7:00 a.m. after the police department received a report that a dog was wandering around.

"He retrieved a very friendly and very large Labrador," Lt. Robert Garofalo said in a news release about the dog. "The dog jumped right into the back of his patrol car and was more than happy to go for a ride."

The dog was sent to Weber's Boarding Facility, where his microchip was identified. The owner, Myra Cruz, was contacted. She thought the call was a prank because her dog had been missing since November of 2012.

"The entire Cruz family made the trek immediately from Hillsborough to West Windsor Police Headquarters," Garofalo said.

"Wesley was clearly happy to be back with his family," Garofalo said.
