FORREST CITY, Ark. (FOX13) -

A vicious high school fight caught on camera and then posted to Facebook. It happened Wednesday afternoon at Forrest City High school in Arkansas. As of Thursday, school leaders tell FOX13 they are investigating.

School officials at Forrest City High school did confirm the fight between the two girls happened in a classroom on Wednesday afternoon. They say it stemmed from something that started outside of school and then violently escalated inside.

"She showed me the video, I was sickened, it was ridiculous, that no teacher was in the classroom, helping this poor girl, another blow to the head and she could have been dead," said Taylor Metcalf, a former student at the high school.

Metcalf graduated from Forest High in 2012, and her younger sister is currently in the 9th grade there. Their father, Marvin Metcalf is on the school board. So when she saw the video on Wednesday night,   she was disgusted.

"It could have been my sister and someone is going to die there, if it's not this year, or next year, or the next," said Metcalf.

The video was posted onto Facebook Wednesday evening. You see a girl in tan pants and a red shirt punching another girl already on the floor. She appears to have her in a choke hold, and other students are seen standing around doing nothing. The person filming appears to even be laughing. Metcalf says things like this happen on a daily basis at Forrest City High.

"You can do anything, children have sex, smoke in the class, they leave and come back and you have no penalties when any of these things go on," said Metcalf.

We slowed down the video to get a better look. The portion of the video we have is not that long. It does appear students finally intervene towards the end, and then a teacher wearing a blue shirt is also seen in the video at the end.

Jermaine Stewart is a current tutor at Forrest City High and also a former student .He says the kids are basically good, but does agree that there are some serious problems happening inside.

"You constantly got police up here, fights every day, lunch fights, under the book stuff that you wouldn't expect to see in a high school, it's pitiful, but it is what it is," said Stewart.

The superintendent, the vice principal, and the school board president of the Forrest City School district all said they could not go on camera because of the ongoing investigation. The school board president tells me every school has its problems and critics, but says a full investigation which might include criminal charges is underway.
