COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (FOX13) -

District Attorney Amy Weirich finally breaks her silence on her political opponent's headline grabbing stunt last week.

Judge Joe Brown was arrested after being held in contempt of court by a Juvenile Court magistrate.

While Weirich's campaign was critical of Brown's arrest, Weirich herself has remained silent on the issue.

FOX13 caught up with Weirich Monday afternoon at a Republican campaign rally.  She says she was unaware of Brown's claims a family member of hers was in the courtroom at the time of his arrest.

Brown says he was at Juvenile Court to see for himself how court was conducted, and was asked by a woman to intervene in her case.

Weirich refused to comment on Brown's actions and whether they were politically motivated.

"I'm not going to and can't and won't comment on what happened that day. My focus is on doing the best job I can for the citizens of Shelby County," Weirich said.

Weirich and Brown face off in the county general election in August.

Weirich wasn't the only candidate at today's Republican rally.

Congressman Stephen Fincher officially kicked off his re-election campaign. The county mayor, sheriff and suburban mayors were all there as well.

The special guest for the event was Michael Reagan, son of President Ronald Reagan.

He told the rallying Republicans to focus on shared values.

"We've gotten elections off of the values program and move to the corners and I think we need to be talking more about values and what brings people together, not tear them apart."

The county primaries are in May, the county general election and congressional primaries are in August and the congressional general election is in November.
