DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

With a loaded lineup and pitching staff that's had success at the minor league level, the Memphis Redbirds are primed for a good 2014 season.

The batting order should have tough outs nearly the entire way through. Prized outfield prospects Oscar Taveras and Stephen Piscotty will deliver punch in the middle of the lineup, but experienced veterans Ed Easley and Scott Moore have also proven themselves at the plate.

The pitching staff lacks the pure heat of Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez, but with a rotation led by returning starters Tyler Lyons and Boone Whiting, stability and experience should lead to effective starts.

The bullpen has more strength than the starters, with fireballers Sam Freeman, Jorge Rondon and Eric Fornataro back to finish games. Recent signee David Aardsma is also expected to pitch in a high-leverage role.
