Mayor Nutter and Gov.Corbett Travel To Rome

Posted: Updated:

Mayor Michael Nutter and Governor Corbett left for Rome last night to find out whether or not Pope Francis will come to Philadelphia in 2015.

Mayor Nutter and Governor Corbett say they will spend the next three days in Rome figuring out the logistics for the 2015 World Meeting of Families event that will be held in Philadelphia. They are currently trying to persuade the Pope to attend. Nutter and Corbett say the international event could mean big tourism dollars for our city.

St. Francis of Xavier Church in the art museum area held a Mass mob which invited people from all over the area to show up to Sunday Mass in hopes to keep the momentum going within the Catholic Church . The Mass shook up attendance and enthusiasm in the Catholic community.

Mayor Nutter and Governor Corbett are expected back in Philadelphia on Thursday.

We will see whether or not they will come back with an answer and a confirmation from the Pope.
