Spring arrived this past week. And if you have got a desire to get out in the garden as soon as possible, make sure to take your smart device with you. We are giving thumbs up to a cool gadget and a couple of apps that will help turn your thumb green.

We've got something for your favorite house plant. It is the Flower Power by Parrot. The device is placed in the soil and then it can talks to you tablet or smartphone giving vital statistics about the plant. It will push notification to your device to let you know what your plant needs.

Flower Power costs $59 and might make a good Mother's Day which is coming up in a little over a month.

Did you know that the south leads all other regions in outdoor gardening? Here are a couple of app suggestions from Verizon Wireless that are readily available at the tips of your green thumbs:

Garden Pro! - This app has more than 7,000 plants in its database. It can help you manage and plan your garden. The app is for Apple devices and will cost 99 cents.

Beginners Gardening Guide
- This free Android app offers detailed information about gardening design and growing everything from vegetable to flower gardens.
