A woman was killed after a fire in her home on the 5900 block of North Norwood Street. The call came in around 8pm on Saturday night.
Fire crews found medium levels of smoke upon arrival. The fire was put out in just 15 minutes. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen of the home and spread upstairs. The woman was found in an upstairs, rear bedroom.
Officials say there were no working smoke detectors in the home. This is the 12th fire related death in Philadelphia this year. Fire officials continue to investigate. Red Cross grief counselors responded to the scene.
