Man Creates Instagram Account For Tax Documents

Posted: Updated:

A Philadelphia man's instagram account has become popular after posting his daily activities for the government.

Andrew Jarvis is an architect who splits time between his firm's branches in New York City and Philadelphia. Overwhelmed by his commute, he began to rent an apartment in NYC to have a better schedule.

After a tax inspection, Andrew learned that in order to avoid being taxed by New York, he would only allow himself to live in the city 182 days or less out of the year.

To prepare for the tax season dispute against his living situation, he began taking selfies on his @internalrevenueselfies account as a way to prove that he spends more time in Philadelphia than he does in New York.

Jarvis posts time-stamped selfies of himself underneath the commuter train marquee or with the daily newspaper in hand, Andrew also collects receipts from his day-to-day transactions.

Anne Jarvis has supported her father's instagram account by reposting some of his pictures.

"My dad is the kind of guy who reads the rules of a board game from front to back before embarking on playing the game," Anne told Mashable. "He cares about facts, practicality, rules, and integrity."

@internalrevenueselfies has more than 1300 followers on instagram.
