Stepfather arrested for brandishing guns at group of teens

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

A heavy police presence was in Chesterfield Township at the Fairchild Lakes Mobile Home community near 23 Mile Road Thursday evening.

Family members say their 16-year-old brother got in a fight with a group of teens. The 16-year-old met up with his stepfather outside and, together, they made it home safely.

Family members say the stepfather then walked outside on the front porch with weapons.

"My guess, when he got involved with some of the other teens they end up following my stepdad home, and my stepdad went inside and grabbed two firearms," says brother Dahborin Steward.

Steward says the firearms were handguns and that he did not hear gunshots. Neighbors also tell FOX 2's Ron Savage they heard no gunshots.

However, brandishing firearms in a threatening manner is illegal and can bring charges.

A 39-year-old man is in custody.
