Time changed for dyeing of the Chicago River

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Chicago River turns green on Saturday, but if you planned to go watch crews dye the river, you'll have to be there a little earlier than usual.

The event was supposed to begin at 10 a.m.

However, organizers said they will start dyeing the river about a half hour earlier at 9:30 a.m.

They want more separation between the event at the river and the Saint Patrick's Day parade. Also, they want the parade to start on time.

Otherwise, organizers said there are just too many people on Michigan Avenue.

Next year, they plan to start the event even earlier at 9 a.m.
