FRAYSER, Tenn. (FOX13) -

At least one man is dead after a double shooting in Frayser Wednesday afternoon. The second victim startled a family when he ran into their home down the street on Gillie.

"The other young man had enough endurance to run around here and he ran into our house," Fleming said, "He fell on the couch and collapsed on the couch with a bullet wound to the back of the head, to the left shoulder, and to the left thigh, and they rushed him to the hospital. We didn't even know who the boy was. He just happened to run up because he'd seen them outside."

According to Memphis Police both victims were on Martha Drive when the shooting occurred.

The man police found on Martha Drive was pronounced dead on the scene. Just down the road on Gillie, police officers found another victim with gunshot wounds; they say he is in critical condition.

Tuesday afternoon the Memphis Gun Down Program hosted a barbeque and fellowship party in Frayser. It took place less than three miles away from where the double shooting occurred Wednesday.

"It's 2014. Any young guys these days now they killing for no reason at all," said a victim's friend Kevin Harris, "I can't say it's going to work and I can't say it isn't going to work, but you can always try and put forward an effort to do something positive and productive."

Police say they detained one suspect but they add they are not sure this person is responsible for the shooting.

"The person responsible for the shooting remained on the scene," a police spokesperson said.

MPD has not released the identities of the victims.
