ATLANTA -

Standing at the pulpit of the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church where her father preached more than five decades ago, Dr. Bernice King spoke candidly last Thursday about the legal fight that has left her publicly at odds with her brothers Martin Luther King III and Dexter King.

King says that she believes reconciliation is still an option, but insists she will never support her brothers' desire to sell their father's Nobel Peace Price or Bible that Dr. King used during the early years of the Civil Rights Movement.

The items have been in Bernice King's care and trust for years, but last month, following a lawsuit filed against Bernice by her brothers, a judge ordered her to put both items in a bank's safe deposit box under court control until after the case is resolved. Monday, March 10th, she complied with the order, sources tell FOX 5 News.

Sources say the items are locked inside an Atlanta bank, and only the judge has the key. Emotions ran high between siblings as the items were turned in, witnesses add.

Flanked by supporters on Thursday, she made a public appeal aimed towards her brothers to come to a resolution to the matter. This was the second such press conference in as many months regarding the family's public quarrel.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney set Wednesday for the initial deadline to relinquish the items to come under court control, but Bernice says the judge gave a 5 day extension on that deadline.
