Allentown, Pa. (FOX 29) - -

An Allentown woman hopes social media will help her reunite with the mother who abandoned her 27 years ago.

Katheryn Deprill believes her birth mother is out there somewhere and she desperately wants to meet her.

Deprill was discovered in the bathroom of an Allentown Burger King on the morning of September 15th, 1986.

"A customer there had heard a baby crying for about an hour. They went and investigated and they found me laying there," Deprill said.

"Baby Doe" was rushed to the hospital in good health and was later adopted into a loving family.

She is now a married mother of three and feels blessed at the life her adoptive mother has given her, but she longs to find the woman who gave her life, has created a Facebook page designed to aid her search.

Katheryn admits it's been tough coming to grips with the fact that her birth mother abandoned her, but time has softened that anger.

"I don't have any hate. I'm actually in a pretty good place right now to totally understand," Katheryn said.

"She had to have cared. And I'm just thankful she left me somewhere warm, and didn't throw me away."

Some emotional scars remain, Katheryn says she has trouble trusting others and letting go of her own kids.

"I go into a large room like a big convention, and I think, my brother or sister could be here or my mom all of the time."

An old newspaper article includes the passage, "police are asking for help in trying to identify the baby's mother." 27 years later, the mystery remains.

"She needs to know it's okay to come forward. I just want to see her and maybe just ask her 'why,'" Katheryn said.

There are clues in some of the medical records she's seen that suggest she has an older sibling perhaps no more than a year older.

If you have any information that could help Katheryn find her birth mom, she is asking to connect with you on her Facebook page.
