BARTLETT, Tenn. (FOX13) -

One man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks after being shot by Bartlett Police Wednesday morning in Westwood.

Members of the Bartlett Police SWAT team were still in full tactical gear when we arrived. Bartlett Police say a number of officers fired at the suspect, and they believe he fired at least once at police before he was hit.

"He pointed the weapon at the officer," said Steve Todd, with Bartlett Police. "The narcotics officers were standing in the front yard. The SWAT team was actually making entry. He saw the narcotics officers in the front yard and pointed the weapon at them."

"Boom… it was like one loud boom then firing back and forth," said an unidentified witness. "You could tell by the way it sounded. It was a shootout so when I got up like, what's going on? And, in a second it started up again and did it three times. So, I got up then and went to the door and my son was looking at it."

The suspect was taken to the Regional One Health in non-critical condition. A total of four people, who were in the house at the time of the shootout, were also arrested. The arrests stem from an investigation into drug activity in the city of Bartlett that led Bartlett Police, along with members of Memphis Police's Organized Crime Unit to the house in the 700 block of Ledbetter in Westwood, Wednesday morning.

No officers were injured in the early morning shootout.
