SOUTH MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Charges have been filed against 18-year-old Mitchell High School student Jashunda Reed, who was involved in Thursday's deadly traffic crash in South Memphis.

Seventeen-year-old Laquisha Lipsey was killed in the crash.

Reed was arrested and charged with failure to yield with serious injury or death, reckless driving, and driving without a license and insurance.

Police said Reed was driving down Weaver with two other Mitchell High students around 10:30 a.m. when she lost control of the car near Levi Road.

A spokesperson for Shelby County Schools said students are not allowed to leave campus unless they have permission from a parent or guardian.
